Crazy Dog Art paintngs are more than paintings, they are stories. The first ones were about my neighbors and friends in the Appalachain Mountains. Then I turned to my own life and as you can see, it is filled with dogs and cats! I have been involved in rescue since 1990 when my husband and I founded Southeast Pug Rescue and Adoption. As you can see, we have rescued our fair share and we loved all of them.
These paintings are inspired by the spirit and humor found in the Appalachian Mountains. No matter what happens we can always find something to laugh about. Each painting is based on a real place or person or experience. It's more than an attitude, it's a way of life.
I paint commissions based on the paintings that you see here or give me an idea, a story, characters, and locations and I will whip one up for you. I guarantee your satisfaction. Robin Tondra is an award winning artist known for her folk art paintings that include poems written in Appalachian dialect. She has won numerous awards in fine arts shows and has been exhibited in galleries across the country. Her art resides in the collections of patrons as far away as Amsterdam, Netherlands and Brussells, Belgium.
She says "I have studied literature, language, science, and social studies in several formalized settings. The one thing I have never studied is art. In order to explore art I had to throw away the rules and listen to my intuition. I draw my "Crazy Dog Art" art from my heart to give to others. I hope it makes you smile."
She currently spends her time between Fernandina Beach, FL and Talking Rock, GA.
